Engaging in church in the digital space has been on lots of our minds since 2020. While some folks were relieved at a return to familiar in-person worship, many others continued to find meaningful connection with faith communities online.
Digital worship can remove barriers that keep people from spiritually fulfilling experiences. Health concerns, differing physical and neurological abilities, and geographic and scheduling factors are just some reasons why online worship has become a valuable option for many. Additionally, for some people entering a physical sanctuary is a difficult reminder of church trauma. Entering a church may not only feel unsafe, but my actually be unsafe.
Innovations in digital worship are an important part of how the church is being re-formed in the present age to make more room at the table for diverse worshippers.
During the month of February, we are going to take a deep dive into exploring digital worship and digital worshipping communities.
